In case you have an issue with setting up your Xiaomi Hub, here are what worked for me.
- If you have previously had a hub connected to your phone, clear the cache and data on your Mi Home app on your phone. Uninstall Mi Home and then reinstall, don’t sign in
- On your WiFi router change the DNS to 114.114.114.114 & 114.114.115.115
- Open the Mi Home application and sign in with your account. Change your region under Settings to Mainland China and your language English where possible keep the GPS and location off – try to not let the application use location information
- Soft Reset the Hub/Gateway by pressing and holding the button until it beeps and it starts flashing yellow. Don’t let the app use location or GPS data. Use the WiFi router with the above DNS settings and you should be able to add the device successfully – note that you cannot change the region back to your region as it just seems to lose the plot
I’ll try after the next software update to reset the region and then report back.
