Kia Picanto Clutch Cable Replacement

You’ll need a philips/star screwdriver, 10mm and 12mm spanners or sockets – spaces are tight so an extension might be useful. These tools should be with your spare wheel and jack.

Facing the car the cable comes from the left through the bulkhead then runs right along the bulkhead and then around and under the air filter and is attached to the arm coming out of the gearbox in the right front of the engine.

It might be easier to work if you remove the air box cover.

  • 12mm is for the 2 nuts on the bulkhead bracket
  • 10mm is for the guide bracket attached to the bulkhead halfway along the cable
  • Philips is to remove the top airbox cover for better access

  1. What could be the main cause of kia picanto 2010 model to smoke in the morning when you start the car or when the car has been parked for more than 4 hours.
I spoke to one mechanic he said it needs engine over haul, but I am doubting that all people driving the car that is old as mine have had engine over haul

    1. There is seldom a singular “main cause”.
It sounds like oil is getting into the cylinder and then burning which causes a white smoke usually, only an ignorant person would suggest that you get rid of the oil in your car to fix the issue.
You’ve given 1-3 pieces in probably a 20 piece puzzle, so it is not possible for me to solve “the puzzle”, anyone who gives you an answer with this little information is guessing.
If you don’t trust the mechanic who said it needs an overhaul and you do not have the skill to fix it yourself, all I can suggest is take it to someone you trust or to multiple people to see if they agree on what the issue is.
